Should shoes provide a sensory experience beyond putting one foot in front of the other?
Nike’s “neuroscience-based” Mind 001 asked this question in 2025, and Adidas seems to be exploring similar territory with its upcoming release, a collaboration with Pharrell Williams’ Humanrace that pushes the boundaries of both design and price.

Adidas already had the most expensive super shoe available to the public, but its latest release doubles the price of its already jaw-dropping predecessor.
Doubling down
The Humanrace x Adidas Evolution Pro is described as a “design study” of the Pro Evo 1, an already hugely expensive shoe at $500 — and one Tigst Assefa donned to set a women’s world record at the 2023 Berlin Marathon.
The collaboration between Pharrell Williams’ brand and the Three Stripes doubles that price, with the stunning new take featuring a selection of never-before-seen, mysteriously described components that result in a pinnacle expression of super shoes.
