It often seems like everyday backpacks are a dime a dozen. The market is flooded with options, many of which are, honestly, pretty respectable, especially among brands that are worth their mettle.
That makes standing out a herculean task on even the best of days, especially to someone like myself, who sees EDC and travel bags day in and day out.
So, when something like the robust and sleek ASRV Water Resistant Modular Backpack 16L, which expertly combines an EDC-friendly format with tech and capabilities borrowed from the outdoor and tactical worlds, comes across my desk, it tends to catch my eye.

Bag of holding
This pack is an EDC bag in the truest sense of the word. It has a 16-liter capacity, so it’s pretty purpose-driven in that sense. It’s great for hauling day-to-day essentials, but it also doesn’t have the bulk and additional weight of a bigger bag that might be better for travel.
That said, while it looks very svelte and stealthy, it’s not without plenty of quality-of-life features you’d expect out of a bag. That includes things like a padded laptop sleeve in the main compartment, back and strap padding, stabilizing straps, a secondary external zippered pocket and an overall familiar, straightforward format.
