Old Forester’s 1910 Old Fine Whisky was supposed to be a throwback to company history that didn’t sell much. Instead, a year’s supply sold out in less than two months.
Hitting shelves this week, 1910, which originally released fall of 2018, is the lastest in its well-reviewed Whiskey Row series (which includes the world-beating Prohibition Style bourbon). It is more mature Old Forester bourbon (the distillery doesn’t provide age details) that’s aged first in standard new charred oak barrels then finished for six to nine months in a heavily charred oak barrel. The result is a smokey, wood-heavy and shockingly sweet bottle of bourbon.
But, like last year, it won’t be in stock for long, and Old Forester knows it. “Given the time it takes to distill and age, availability of this popular expression is limited, so fans of 1910 Old Fine Whisky should grab a bottle while it’s in stock,” the brand wrote in the announcement press release. Bottles are arriving at stores nationwide this week with a suggested retail price of $55.
