A couple of years ago, Stanley had a stranglehold on the drinkware industry. Now, it seems Owala has taken over, or at least the up-and-coming brand is staking a significant claim.

However, stalwart outdoor adventurers have long trusted another significant player in the space for ruggedized drinkware: Yeti. Best known for its pace-setting coolers, this brand’s cups, mugs and travel tumblers offer similar capabilities and formidability.

Rather than going toe-to-toe in the TikTok social space, another beloved brand, Pelican, seeks instead to step out of Yeti’s shadow with a similarly impressive array of new offerings in its Dayventure drinkware collection.

The two best everyday options for most folks are probably the 20 oz Tumbler (left) and 17 oz Tumbler (right).

Toss ’em back

For the record, Pelican already had a collection of drinkware, much of which is comparable to other popular examples from other brands. For instance, the 40 oz Porter Tumbler is extremely similar to the iconic Stanley Quencher in its format, size and even pricing.

All told, the brand has eight existing silhouettes of varying size, format and color options. However, these new additions fill in some of the gaps that the existing options don’t quite cover.

All four of these vessels have exceptional temperature retention. They all have leak-resistant lids. Best of all, they’re more affordable than the competition.

The two most likely to be the biggest immediate hits are the two new tumblers (or travel mugs). The first is the Dayventure 20 oz Tumbler, a straight tumbler (meaning it’s a symmetrical cylinder) that’s perfect for commuters: its diameter is ideal for a hand grip, but it’s also slender enough to fit in your car cup holder.

The second is the Dayventure 17 oz Tumbler. Unlike its cylindrical sibling, this one is narrower on the bottom than at the top (like a classic pint glass) and has a ribbed grip (similar to a coffee cup sleeve, but permanent and grippier). This cup also has a swinging handle attached to the lid for an additional carry option.

All in the family

The other two options in the lineup are a bit different. The first is ideal for those who are hydration-obsessed, like gym rats. It’s called the Dayventure 68 oz Jug. As its name suggests, it can hold up to 68 ounces of liquid, more than the recommended daily water intake.

It also has a dual-spout lid. There’s a sipping straw, for when you just need a few gulps, and then there’s a larger spout, for when you need some serious quenching. It also has a stable base and swinging handle for easier hauling.

No matter which vessel you choose, they all have leak-proof openings to keep spills to a minimum.

The last, the Dayventure 223 oz Cooler, is definitely the strangest. As its name suggests, it’s a cooler, but it doesn’t have a traditional format. Rather, it is a vertically oriented cylinder with a smaller footprint than similarly sized coolers (it fits up to 10 12-ounce cans), making it easier to stow than most of its competition.

And here’s the connecting tether: all four of these vessels have exceptional temperature retention, courtesy of their vacuum insulation, offering up to 24 hours of temperature retention for the drink vessels and 72 hours for the cooler. They all have leak-resistant lids, regardless of lid style, helping keep you and the area around you free from spills.

Best of all, they’re more affordable than the competition.

Easily the most unique item in this slate of new releases is the 223 oz Cooler, which is vertically oriented, making it easier to store than similarly sized coolers.
