The Moab isn’t just one of Merrell’s most popular hiking models; it’s one of the most popular boots of the 21st century.

Rugged durability and performance on the trail have always been the focus of the sturdy silhouette, with aesthetics taking a backseat to capability.

With the upcoming Merrell x Khakis Moab 3 “Old Faithful,” however, that approach evolves.

Archival styling and a refined palette bring character to the enduring hiker, without compromising its core utility.

Soulful style

The Moab 3 “Old Faithful” is the result of a collaboration between Merrell and South Korean lifestyle brand Khakis. Their partnership brings a retro revision to the timeless hiking shoe, giving it a strong aesthetic presence that complements its legacy.

Khakis brought that timeworn appeal front and center with textured, distressed materials in the form of layered polyester mesh and rubber overlays to add depth and variety.

The wax finish and stain washing applied to the shoe allows for its natural patina to shine through, enabling evidence of past adventures to take center stage.

Beneath the vintage patterned laces, and its sand and black exterior with hints of navy, the core performance DNA of the Moab 3 preserves the shoe’s capacity to navigate challenging terrain.

That includes a waterproof membrane, stabilizing Merrell Air Cushioning unit and Vibram TC5+ outsole.

Availability and pricing

The Merrell x Khakis Moab 3 “Old Faithful” goes on sale tomorrow, April 18th on Khakis’ website and select retail locations. The shoe’s price has yet to be announced.
