For a shoe rooted in one of Nike’s earliest running experiments, the Daybreak has never been short on revivals.

But this latest Daybreak SP isn’t just another retro reissue. It’s a quiet redesign that’s been floating around overseas and under the radar since late 2025.

Instead of leaning into nostalgia-heavy materials and color blocking, Nike stripped things back and rebuilt the silhouette with a cleaner, more intentional feel.

Now it’s finally in the U.S.

At its core, the Daybreak SP still carries the DNA of the original: a low-slung profile, elongated toe box, and the signature waffle outsole originally developed by Bill Bowerman. But the updates here are more material than structural.

According to Nike’s official product page, this version trades the traditional mesh-and-suede construction for a full leather upper, giving the shoe a smoother, more elevated look that pushes it further into lifestyle territory.

The details follow suit.

The Swoosh is stitched rather than layered, branding is minimal, and rope-style laces add subtle texture without disrupting the pared-back design.

Underfoot, the EVA midsole and classic waffle tread remain intact, preserving the comfort and heritage that define the Daybreak lineage.

The Daybreak SP’s $115 retail price is consistent with its initial overseas release. You can now find it directly through Nike’s U.S. storefront, alongside a number of domestic retailers.
