If You Have a Finex Cast-Iron Skillet, You Need This

A wood scraper, oil eye dropper and a chainmail scrubber – all your cast-iron skillet truly needs.

Finex’s octagonal, coil-handled cast-iron skillets are heavy, pricey and tough to clean. Finex has created a fix to one of those things.

The Finex cast iron care kit includes a wood scraper, chainmail scrubber and flaxseed oil eyedropper. The scraper — made of wood so it doesn’t tear up your seasoning or scratch the surface — was cut to the exact size of the gap between the Finex grill pan’s grates. It’s also useful for cleaning out the hard-angled corners of the standard Finex skillet. Chainmail scrubbers have been a standard in cast-iron skillet cleaning for a while now — outfitted with rounded edges to pull food off the pan without scraping the pan itself (it’s also dishwasher safe).

The eyedropper seems excessive, but one of the chief mistakes new cast iron enthusiasts make when seasoning their new skillet is using way too much oil. Flaxseed oil is prized for its status as one of very few food-safe “drying oils,” meaning it carries a low smoke point and polymerizes to your skillet more easily than most other popular seasoning oils.

The set is available now on Finex’s site for $50.
