Patagonia Stretch Terre Planing Hoody

Running-Staff-Picks-Gear-Patrol-Patagonia

Patagonia made this ultralightweight jacket using the 100 percent recycled nylon from the brand’s Stretch Planing Board Shorts. It’s perfect for cool spring runs, sheds enough water to keep you warm during a drizzle, has 50+ UPF sun protection, and has just the right amount of stretch for jogging. – Chris Wright, Associate Editor

Saxx Kinetic Tight

Running-Staff-Picks-Gear-Patrol-Saxx

Yeah, I wear tights. Big deal. Listen — they make my runs easier, all right? I’d wear a goddamn tutu if it made running less miserable. These tights, somehow, make my legs last longer. I assume that has something to do with the nine muscle-squeezing compression panels, which purportedly increase blood flow. Also, they keep my boys in place. Don’t get me wrong — running still sucks. But these tights make it just a little more bearable; coming from me, that’s saying something. – Michael Finn, Editorial Apprentice

Balega Silver No-Show Socks

Running-Staff-Picks-Gear-Patrol-Socks

I used to scoff at pricey running-dedicated socks. Socks are socks, I thought, and why should I pay $15 for one pair when I can get a bag of six pairs for the same price? Then I was gifted a pair of these, and I’d disregard the stink to run in them for weeks at a time just for the cushiony comfort. Balega’s Silver No-Show socks have everything that, to me, makes a perfect running sock. They’re low-profile, supportive, comfortable, well ventilated and, thanks to encapsulated silver ions (yeah, silver silver), they’re naturally antimicrobial, which means I can keep running in them past the point of normal social acceptability. – Tanner Bowden, Editorial Apprentice
