While the Oregon City, Oregon-based brand is much better known for its outdoor and EDC knives, Benchmade is no slouch when it comes to culinary cutlery.

Granted, the variety isn’t nearly as wide, but such offerings as the Meatcrafter and 3 Piece Set are beloved by professional chefs and home cooks alike.

Inspired by deep water and volcanic terrain, these FatCarbon-handled Station Knives are quietly dubbed “Elemental.”

That’s to say nothing of Benchmade’s original kitchen blade, the Station Knife, a stainless steel stalwart that’s as beautiful as it is versatile.

This knife just got even more head-turning thanks to a couple of new handles from Utena, Lithuania-based FatCarbon that really raise the bar. Let’s take a closer look at these two high-end options.

Tangled up in blue

With a handle dubbed Dark Matter Blue, the slightly more affordable Fatcarbon treatment taps into ocean vibes.

Expertly shaped and weighted, the Station Knife is game for all manner of culinary challenges.

Just like the original, it boasts a 5.97-inch clip-point blade made of CPM-154 steel (here with a satin finish).

With a full belly and narrow tip, it’s perfectly capable of tackling all manner of cookout tasks, from chopping veggies to slicing steak.

The full-bellied blade measuring nearly six inches helps make the knife one of the most capable kitchen cutters around.

The overall length of 10.88 inches leaves plenty of handle to grip, while the 6.36-ounce weight is perfectly balanced for reliable and satisfying cuts time after time.

Heart of gold

With an aesthetic that recalls volcanic terrain (the fire to the previous knife’s ice), this flashier milled FatCarbon handle bears the fitting moniker of Dark Matter Gold.

Handles like this one have made FatCarbon increasingly popular in the knife world over the past six years.

It carries similar dimensions, but the blade now takes on a black DLC coating that nicely complements the handle.

As with all Station Knives, this edition also boasts a ring at the back, to which you can attach a lanyard for hanging around the house or the campsite.

It also comes complete with a fitted sheath, enabling you to protect the blade (but still show off that fancy handle) when it’s not in use.

Availability and pricing

The Benchmade Station Knives with FatCarbon handles are available now. The Black/Blue edition (4010-2503) costs $600, while the Black/Gold edition (4010BK-2504) costs $650.

Just don’t snooze if you are interested. Both knives are limited edition, and once they sell out, Benchmade says, they will not be restocked.
