This Stunningly Sleek, Workhorse Button-Lock EDC Knife Is Shockingly Affordable, Too

Traditionally, an icebreaker is one of two things: a ship designed to carve through sea ice or a conversation-starter designed to break the tension between folks. Bestech’s little sister brand’s take on the concept is neither.

Perhaps that’s not entirely fair, at least on one front. The Bestechman Icebreaker is decidedly not a seafaring vessel, but it could absolutely be a conversation starter if you’re looking to impress an EDC knife lover with what qualifies as a highly capable, yet wildly affordable blade.

If looks could thrill

I don’t think it’s too bold to say this knife looks pretty great. While the design isn’t doing anything too outrageous, it all works really well together. The handle has a gentle bend that plays well off the curve of the blade’s edge, and the silhouette is very clean and classic.

Yet, this knife is not without flair. The handle features a textured inlay that, across all configurations, adds a bright pop of color and contrast against the rest of the handle and, in some cases, the blade, too.

That silhouette and the stylistic details are mated to an extremely well-balanced size. The overall knife is 7.36 inches (falling into what I like to call the “sweet spot” for EDC), of which 3.15 inches are the drop-point blade.

That leaves 4.21 inches for the handle, which is a great ratio and offers plenty of grip room, even for somewhat larger hands. As I said, the design doesn’t exactly take risks, but it does do a lot with what it offers.

Birds of a feather

While the looks are great, the materials and mechanisms are even better, especially when you consider just how budget-friendly this knife is. In fact, let’s get that out of the way: across all five configurations, the price is set at $66 (but is discounted to $56 at the time of this article).

And what do you get for that? The blade is D2. Again, not mind-blowing, but definitely a classic workhorse steel that, for everyday carry use, should perform beautifully for years and years to come.

The handle is aluminum with G10 inlays. The base handle offers strength and lightness, while the machined scales grant extra grip. And the handle houses a handy, convenient, reliable and easy button lock.

It also has dual thumb studs for manual deployment and a reversible pocket clip. This knife is a veritable grab bag of fan-favorite features, and they’re all well-executed, especially given the knife’s wildly low price.

The Bestechman Icebreaker is available right now on the brand’s site for just $56 (down from its MSRP of $66) in all five colorways. However, some are selling fast and the stock is already low, so don’t sleep on this extremely budget-friendly beauty.
