Introduced in 2018, the Buck of the Month program has evolved into a cherished dimension of a legendary brand whose own history dates back to 1902.

The series has given Buck the opportunity to experiment, often giving bold or premium treatments to a variety of brand staples and lesser-known offerings.

Through the program, such knives as the 101 Hunter, 110 Hunter, 112 Slim Pro TRX and even the 948 Vegetable Cleaver have gotten their moment in the sun.

Still, the latest release is particularly noteworthy, as April’s special edition 112 Ranger is recognized as the 100th Buck of the Month.

Choice ingredients

That number speaks to a consistent record of awesome, exclusive knives over the past eight years.

Despite its milestone number, the April 2026 Buck of the Month is not so much a culmination as simply the latest in a long and continuing line of excellent, exclusive knives.

However, it’s also rather arbitrary, so it’s nice to see that Buck has met the moment by keeping its focus on making another exemplary knife, rather than showily patting itself on the back.

Toward that end, this Ranger has no external branding of the century mark (though you can surely find something in the included certificate of authenticity).

While it does not scream “100,” the offside of the blade clearly indicates its super steel and top-notch heat treatment.

What it does have is so much better, beginning with a 3-inch drop point blade made of satin-finished BOS heat-treated S35VN super steel.

Built into the blade is a long pull nail notch, enabling easy two-handed opening while nodding to the beloved 112’s ancestors, themselves descended from Buck’s most famous knife, the 110 Folding Hunter

The marbled carbon fiber is gorgeous, though not necessarily ultralight, as the knife weighs in at 5.4 ounces.

The other end of the knife is arguably just as premium, highlighted by marbled carbon fiber handle scales awash in timeless elegance.

This USA-made knife also has a nickel silver barehead bolster and a backlock to hold the blade firmly in place, open or closed.

The pocket clip and back lock each offer security in their own unique ways.

Rounding things out is a removable (but non-reversible) deep-carry pocket clip stamped with the Buck anvil logo, a fine finishing touch on a future heirloom sure to be passed down for generations.
