As you may have noticed, quality “made in the USA” craftsmanship can be hard to come by these days — and if a brand doesn’t explicitly say an item was made here, it probably wasn’t.

That’s what makes Filson’s latest collaboration, with fellow Seattle-based brand Crescent Down Works, such a rare and special thing.

Two-tone brown jacket with snap buttons and flap pockets worn by a person against a plain background.
This limited-edition parka brings the best of two Seattle brands together in one stellar, winter-ready piece.
Filson

Together, these two renowned names boast nearly 200 years of history (Filson: 129, CDW: 52).

Those decades of experience find a fitting expression in a new three-item collection featuring a Jacket, a Blanket and the pinnacle, perfect-for-winter piece, the Filson x Crescent Down Works Parka

Heritage meets modernity

The beauty of this collaboration is that it brings together two brands with real expertise concerning the key ingredients.

The resulting parka seamlessly blends old-school touches with contemporary functionality.

Wool, down and a cotton/nylon blend offer a compelling combo of durability, warmth and weather protection.

Toward that end, Filson’s own 18-ounce, 100 percent wool, a naturally weather resistant and durable material, is used for the shell.

Crescent’s 60/40 cloth, a cotton/nylon blend with a water-resistant treatment, goes into the sleeves, shoulder and hood.

Old-school touches include classic Filson hand/cargo pockets and a bevy of sturdy snaps.

As you might expect, the insulation is a major highlight: ethically sourced 700-fill-power goose down provides maximum warmth with minimum weight.

The parka’s lining is made of soft, lightweight nylon, a zippered pocket offers additional storage, and a pig nose drawcord can adjust the waist area to lock in body heat and keep out the wind.

Both the cuffs and waist area are adjustable via Velcro tabs and a drawcord, respectively.

Additional details are Filson staples, such as combination hand/cargo pockets and chest pockets with snapped overlays.

The zip-front closure is shielded with a storm guard, while the cuffs feature adjustable Velcro tabs.

Last but not least, the hood can be tightened with a drawcord to seal out Mother Nature’s foulest moods.
