This Could Be Vosteed’s Most Robust EDC Knife Yet — It’s Super User-Friendly, Too

While it’s still early, this exceptional super blade may be a contender for the brand’s best launch of the year.

This is the first full week of the year, and Vosteed has come out swinging with what could be one of its best new knives of the year (if not ever.)

Another collaboration with Geoff Blauvelt of TuffKnives, the robust Vosteed Xeno is an exercise in juxtaposing formidability and bold design.

H.R. Giger EDC

The knife’s name is actually a hint at its inspiration. Xeno, in this case, is short for Xenomorph — the monstrous creatures from the Alien franchise.

That’s because the knife was modeled after the biomechanical artwork of H.R. Geiger, the madman behind the Xenomorph’s design.

This is most apparent in the styling of the handle. While not as gruesome, perhaps, as some of Geiger’s artwork, there’s a certain futuristic flair to the handle’s geometry.

Yes, that is the brand’s exceptional pivot lock, the Vanchor.

The handle also has minimal visible hardware — just a pair of screws toward the base of the spine that hold the scales together with the backspacer and, most crucially, a pivot-integrated Vanchor button lock.

Lastly, even the construction hearkens to Geiger’s dark vision of the future. The titanium of the scales undergoes multiple processes, including high-vacuum finishing, which gives it an aged appearance to complement its metallic strength and futuristic machining.

The dual-sectioned blade is practically corrosion-proof. “Even a 240-hour salt-mist test barely phases it.”

The Geiger connection also extends to the blade, but not in a way you might expect. Yes, the blade is similarly biomechanically inspired, boasting a dual-section edge, a modified reverse tanto (or perhaps sheepsfoot) shape.

However, it’s the material that really sets this knife apart. This is the first time Vosteed has ever employed Vanax steel. While this is a high-performance steel that offers a formidable edge and high strength, it’s superpower is in its corrosion resistance.

Vanax is practically impervious to corrosion. In fact, this particular blade was subjected to a rigorous 240-hour salt-mist test and emerged virtually unscathed. That also means it’s resistant to other chemicals and, interestingly, acids.

That’s where the Geiger connection rears its head once more, as you’ll remember that Xenomorph blood is highly acidic and corrosive.

The Xeno measures 7.86 inches in total, featuring a 3.23-inch blade that hits the sweet spot for everyday carry. And it’s available in four unique styles — all boasting the same material, but slightly different finishes.
