Yeti now makes cast iron cookware, beach chairs and even dog toys. But at the core, it’s still a brand driven by the original premise: keeping stuff cold.

To date, that’s mostly come in the form of coolers and drink vessels. But Yeti’s quietly started to lay the bricks of a new brand pillar with its Daytrip series.

The latest installment suggests it may be ready to stand on its own.

Everyday utility

Already available in a 14L size, the Daytrip Insulated Tote Bag now comes in a 20L capacity better suited to picnics, soccer games, roadtrips or simply families that could use the extra cargo space.

It may lack the thermal retention needed to keep food cold for days on end. And, unlike the famous Tundra, it’s certainly not bear-proof.

But the Daytrip still utilizes the Coldcell technology found in Yeti’s longstanding Hopper lineup to promise up to a day of cold storage, while boasting a significant jump in practicality.

Even Yeti will tell you that its leakproof zipper are a pain to use, even with two hands — an inevitable tradeoff for optimal thermal performance.

But they’re also overkill for most weekend getaways …

The Daytrip 20L Insulated Tote Bag makes use of a magnetic top that skirts zippers altogether, easing access for the whole family (children included).

Availability and pricing

Available now in five core colorways and one seasonal hue (“Tropical Pink”), the Daytrip 20L Insulated Tote Bag costs $175.

That still makes it something of an investment but a tempting value play when compared to rest of the brand’s cooler lineup.
