No matter how slim and sleek merino sweaters are, Shetland sweaters have heart, soul and provenance. True to their name, they’re still made in the Shetland region of Scotland, knit with dense lambswool that keeps the wearer warm. Unlike other warm sweaters, however, they’re not bulky, which makes it an excellent fall layering piece. Many Shetland sweaters come in earth tones befitting their rugged heritage, though many purveyors of American prep sell varieties of resplendent hues.
