There are cold-weather accessories, and then there’s the Carhartt beanie. We’ll get into why this simple winter accessory transcended into something bigger, but up front, you need to know this.
Right now, the brand has slashed prices across most of its beanie collection – right during the time of the year when you need a warm hat the most, with some of its most iconic styles dropping to impulse-buy territory at $15 or less.
The beanie that built a cult following

Since its debut in 1987, this simple knit beanie – known by many streetwear fans by its specific name, the A18 Watch Hat has transcended its workwear origins to become a style staple.
That’s partially because it’s comfortable, durable, affordable, and sold in a wide range of colors. But once celebrities, including Rihanna, Nas, David Beckham, ASAP Rocky, Harry Styles, Jonah Hill, Jake Gyllenhaal, Frank Ocean, and many more, were spotted proudly wearing various versions, it reached a new level of prestige and popularity.
Cutting through the hype

While we have no problem recommending the beanie to anyone in need, our experience with it has revealed a few factors anyone on the fence should consider.
First of all, the beanie is one-size-fits-all, and at least some have found the embedded elastic can be a tad tight. So it’s not the best option for anyone with a larger head.
It’s also made from 100-percent acrylic, which may put off shoppers who prefer more environmentally-friendly materials.
Then again, neither of these issues is exclusive to Carhartt beanies and shouldn’t surprise anyone who’s worn affordable beanies in the past.
