Filson’s Best Travel Bag Now Comes in a Compact EDC Form Factor

Dopp kit, tech pouch or everyday organizer — they hardly get tougher, or look better, than this.

Longtime Filson fans probably remember the Dryden Duffle Pack, only by a different name.

The once-called “Ballistic Nylon Duffle Pack” was a hidden gem of the brand’s bag lineup, beloved by those who dared look past the hype bestowed upon the iconic Rugged Twill Original Briefcase.

In a 2022 review, for example, Wired crowned it the “greatest bag ever made.”

After a multiyear hiatus — as well as a one-off return with Huckberry — the bag is back, officially, with a new badge and fresh name.

But it’s not the only addition to Filson’s bag lineup. Nor is it most useful from an EDC perspective.

The duffel also has a little brother in the form of the Dryden Travel Pack that sees Filson apply the same 1000-denier Cordura nylon fabric to an EDC-friendly workhorse.

At face value, it might be tempting to reduce the compact offering into a simple Dopp kit.

And, thanks to a water-resistant nylon interior, it certainly seems up to the task of transporting razors and toothbrushes from point A to B.

A water-resistant nylon interior certainly makes the pack suitable as a Dopp kit, but that’s ignoring its broader appeal.

However, the addition of pockets both the inside and out make it more than suitable to serve as a tech pouch or EDC organizer, while the lightweight, highly scratch-resistant exterior can handle any wear and tear expected from daily use.
