This travel pack was once dubbed “the greatest bag ever made.” Now the revived edition is available at the lowest price we’ve ever seen.

Jeremy White, an editor at Wired, once dubbed the Filson Duffel Backpack Hybrid 46L the “greatest bag ever made.”

Then Filson decided to retire it.

Luckily for travel fans everywhere, Rhyne Simpson, a merchandise manager at Huckberry, remembered how well the bag sold back in the day and pleaded with Filson to bring back the exact same bag as a Huckberry exclusive.

The revival must have been a success, because just this fall, Filson decided to add the bag to its own travel lineup. The new permanent edition is now known as the Dryden Duffle Pack and features some slight differences from this revived original while also being available in at least one new color.

After a full season of sales, though, Huckberry has dropped the original revival bag’s price to the lowest we’ve ever seen it hit.

What Makes It Special?

The bag developed a cult following for several reasons. One was its ability to balance durability with weight. It also boasts three ways to carry it, including integrated backpack straps.

At 46 liters, it’s big enough to haul a day or two’s worth of clothes. It includes a padded pocket capable of holding a 15-inch laptop, plus two outside pockets for a pair of shoes or clothes.

“You can kind of pack it however you want,” Simpson said. “You can do all your packing cubes and you’ve got a little bit of organization in there, but it’s just totally different from any other travel bag.”

Grab It While You Can

Just because the bag can get dirty doesn’t mean it’s not premium. The haul handles are equipped with bridle leather, for example.

Huckberry has discounted the Whiskey Ballistic Nylon version of the bag by over $100. However, this feels like the final push from Huckberry to clear out stock, so we don’t expect their remaining supplies to last long, especially given that this particular iteration of the bag is discontinued and could become a unique collector’s item in time.
