Todd Snyder, the brand, has come a long way since Todd Snyder, the man, left his cushy position running the menswear line at J.Crew in 2009. But one garment has been in every collection since the solo project launched in 2011, acting as a North Star for the designer and becoming a perennial best seller.
The Dylan Jacket is Snyder’s greatest creation, more than the Ludlow Suit or his countless Timex collaborations. It’s a classic American trucker jacket, refined enough to exude great taste, but approachable enough to avoid pretension. And in the new caramel Italian suede, it has never looked better.
Todd Snyder has produced the Dylan Jacket in many forms, from Japanese denim to American leather, but its most abundant and celebrated iteration is the Italian Suede.
It is so popular, in fact, that the New York brand currently offers no less than 12 colors, a count that has steadily grown over the past few years. That’s more colors than are offered in the brand’s core t-shirt, the Premium Jersey Tee.
There are some adventurous hues like blush pink and sage green, along with fundamentals like black and navy. Of course, it comes in Snyder’s signature olive green, and my personal favorite is cappuccino.
The new caramel Italian Suede tops them all because it is the epitome of versatility. It sits right between the faded tan cappuccino and the rich chocolate brown, meaning it will complement absolutely anything in almost anyone’s closet.
