A few weeks ago Belkin released the first Apple-approved portable power bank with a Lightning input. Basically, while most new portable power banks require a USB-C or micro-USB cable, you could recharge Belkin’s new model with the same Lightning cable that you use with your iPhone, iPad and AirPods — it’s super convenient.
Now, Mophie is getting in the action with its new powerstation series, which is available today exclusively on Mophie’s website and the Apple Store. The new series consists of four portable power banks, ranging from 6,040mAh to 20,200 mAh. All are MFi-approved (Made-for-iPhone/iPad) by Apple.
Of the four portable chargers, the two standouts are the powerstation plus ($80) and the powerstation plus XL ($100). Both models look a little nicer, with a fabric finish, but they also have integrated Lightning cables, so you don’t need to remember your own if you want to charge your iPhone. The big difference is that they support wireless charging (up to 10-watts), too, so you can recharge them by placing the same Qi-compatible wireless charger that you use with your new iPhone 8, iPhone8 Plus or iPhone X.
(None of these models can wirelessly charge your smartphone, like this RavPower portable power bank, however, but that’s far from a deal breaker.)
