Apple finally released its second-generation AirPods — you can buy them on Apple’s website right now — and a lot of the new features were expected: wireless charging, “Hey Siri” support and faster pairing. One thing that’s missing? The new AirPods still aren’t sweatproof.
If you were waiting for sweatproof AirPods, you may not be so out of luck after all. 9to5Mac uncovered leaked images of the next-generation of the Powerbeats sports headphones, rumored to be called the Powerbeats Pro, which Apple is currently working on. They look like true wireless versions of the Powerbeats3 Wireless, which we named as one of our favorite sport headphones.
You can expect the Powerbeats Pro to have the same H1 ship that is in the new AirPods. Thus, it’ll probably have many of the same new features, such as “Hey Siri” support and faster pairing. It’s probably safe to assume that the case will Qi-compatible, too, so you can wireless charge them. As the image shows, the Powerbeats Pro will be available in black. Apple currently sells white and black-and-red variants of its Powerbeats3 Wireless, so it’s possible we could see those color options for the Powerbeats Pro, too.
As far as pricing, we’re speculating that Powerbeats Pro will cost more than the new AirPods with its new wireless charging case. When the Powerbeats3 Wireless first went on sale, they were selling for $200, so we’re guessing the Powerbeats Pro will cost between $200 and $250. Apple should unveil them in the near future.
