Sonos released the second-generation model of its first smart speaker — the Sonos One — earlier this year. The Sonos One (Gen 2) looks and costs the same as the previous One speaker, but Sonos added several key upgrades to make it more “future proof.” The new speaker has an updated processor and more memory; it also has Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), which theoretically makes the connection between your smartphone and the speaker even stronger (basically, streaming music on the Sonos One Gen 2 will be a little more reliable). Another neat thing is that Sonos’s newest speakers support Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can decide which virtual assistant you would like to talk to.
For Prime Day, Amazon is discounting Sonos’s entry-level smart speakers by $20 — you can pick one up for $179. To sweeten the pot, however, with the purchase Amazon is throwing in a free $50 gift card; so instead of saving just $20, you’re essentially saving something like $70.
