What differentiates your summer EDC from that of the rest of the year? Probably not much, though when it's hot as hell outside, a good handkerchief can be a saving grace. You can mop your brow with it; you can stuff it inside your neck line so you don't dirty your shirt collar before you've even made it to the office (remember those?); you can use it to clean off sunglasses and watch dials; you can even use it as a convenient background for taking product photos, should you be someone who regularly engages in that practice.

Well, we've found the perfect thing for you, from a new company called Cantonement. Co-founded by a GP alum, Cantonment is an EDC (everyday carry) company whose debut product is called, well, The Kerchief. Feeling that most kerchiefs on the market were either too large to fit in a pocket or too small to wear on one's head or face, the Cantonment team decided to design one that was sized perfectly for most modern use cases. The resulting Kerchief, which is made of 100% cotton, is sized perfectly to wear in different configurations but will stuff comfortably into your pocket. The design features a "merrowed" edge, in which the raw fabric is overstitched to provide a clean appearance and protection against fraying. Additionally, each Kerchief ships with a nylon strap called a Woggle that allows you to attach it via one of four button holes to a belt or backpack with ease.

Sold in themed sets of two, each Kerchief features an architectural drawling-like illustration of a piece of iconic gear: horological versions — which feature everyone's favorite affordable Japanese dive watch and one space-exploring Swiss chronograph — exist with the Chrono set, while the Opti set is photography-themed and the Auto set is automotive-themed. The sets cost $40 each and ship in a minimalist, cardboard tube. What's more, a portion of each sale will be donated to The Fresh Air Fund, which helps children from NYC's lower-income communities spend time in the outdoors.
