An American Watch Company Unveils Its First Automatic Field Watch

American-made components paired with a Swiss self-winding movement.

Weiss Watch Company — the Los Angeles-based indie watchmaker known for its field watches using American-made components — has just unveiled its first automatic timepiece. The Automatic Issue Field Watch has the same classic look and 9 o’clock sub-seconds dial as the rest of the lineup but comes in a more compact 38mm case (4mm smaller than the hand-wound watches). The movement inside is based on the Eterna Caliber 39, which beats at 28,000 vph, has a 65-hour power reserve and features an oscillating weight made by Weiss. And according to Weiss, like the rest of the brand’s lineup, the Automatic Issue Field Watch will also feature components like cases and dials (available in blue, silver and black) that are made in the USA.
