Luminox

Luminox’s new Recon series was developed with the military professional in mind. That goal is clearly articulated by the line’s first offering, the Recon Point Man ($320). Designed in collaboration with former Swiss Army Military Security NCO Andrea Micheli, this rugged analog diver is perfect for not only the battlefield, but also for slightly less intense scenarios involving campsites and hiking with your buddies.

Controlled by precision Swiss quartz movement, the matte white military hands glide along the applied white/orange Arabic numbers around a 24-hour time track, highlighted by a contrast-color countdown quadrant that can be used for time maneuvers. Other noteworthy features include water resistance up to 200 meters, a walking speed scale (which thankfully only requires a little bit of calculation in your head), and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating.

With a Luminox, you also expect great illumination, and the Point Man doesn’t disappoint. The self-powered tritium gas tubes softly light up the second, minute, and hour hands, and will continue to do so for the next 25 years. Don’t worry about accidentally losing it either. The tank-style buckle will keep the black rubber band securely strapped to your wrist, whether your disarming the enemy or wrestling over ‘smores.
