Editor’s Note: Watches & Wonders (formerly SIHH) and Baselworld 2020 are canceled but that hasn’t stopped watch brands large and small from debuting their new wares. To stay on top of this year’s best new watch releases, visit our tag page.
Longines might not be breaking new ground with the green-dialed dive watches it just announced, but it is providing one of the best examples of the watch industry’s hottest current trends of the last few years. Many people might be open to the idea of a green-dialed watch, but it’s likely the particular hue of green that makes or breaks the deal. The new Hydroconquest dive watches come in two shades of green, actually, and they’re both well-executed and have matching green ceramic bezels.
Done up in a matte khaki green, the new watches will join the Hydroconquest’s permanent lineup in two size variants of 41mm and 43mm. A second 41mm edition is meant for boutiques only, and it’s got a ceramic dial with a vertically brushed finish for a distinctly more refined feel. All new versions feature an ETA automatic movement with a silicon balance spring and a healthy power reserve of 64 hours.
Regardless of dial or case size, each of the new Longines Hydroconquest green models has a price of $1,600. Though equipped with steel bracelets, they also ship with green rubber straps that are easily interchangeable via a quick-release system.
