Wren was created in 2024 by Craig Karger, founder of Wrist Enthusiast. It has garnered a ton of respect over the past two years for combining a crowd-pleasing retro aesthetic with impressive technical specs and keeping prices well under $2,000.

The indie watch brand debuted with a single design, the Diver One, and has iterated on that vintage-inspired diver ever since with a couple of case sizes, a range of dial colors and a few different materials. The newest evolution is the most attractive yet, thanks to a new color scheme inspired by coastal sunsets.

Dubbed the Diver One Titanium Dusk, it builds upon a Grade 5 titanium case and bracelet introduced last year. The new color scheme is reminiscent of the Aqua dial that launched Wren, but with the faux-patina cranked up to 11.

The dial features a darker shade of blue than the original teal, mirroring the ocean at dusk, rather than midday. It is finished with the same fumé fade and vertical brushing as the Aqua.

The real hook for me is the creamy orange accent color used on the dial and bezel, which is a fantastic complement to the blue and black base. It is used for all of the printing on the dial, including the 60-minute track, Wren logo, hour marker frames and “Swiss Made” wordmark below 6:00.

But it gets even better with the blue-emitting Super-LumiNova used for the lower plate of the sandwich dial, showing through as the hour markers. It is also used for the hand inlays and the 60-minute dive track on the black ceramic bezel insert, which is fully lumed.

The dive track sits inside a slim unidirectional titanium bezel with a coin-edge grip.

Even with the box sapphire crystal accounted for, this new Diver One Titanium measures just 12.4mm tall. The substantial titanium crown, with a fluted grip and relief logo, covers the width of the sidewall.

Sunset diver

Aside from the titanium build, which makes this Dive One 45-percent lighter than its steel predecessor, the most impressive technical feature is the well-respected Swiss movement.

It runs on an ETA Caliber 2824 automatic, which is the gold standard for “workhorse” movements. It beats at 4Hz and has a modest 38-hour power reserve, but it’s as dependable as they come and easy to service.

Another useful feature is the sliding extension built into the clasp of the titanium flat-link bracelet. It pinches to unlock, allowing it to operate on the wrist, and it can double as a dive extension if you’re wearing a wetsuit.

Speaking of actual diving, Wren sweetens this already fantastic deal by including an additional fitted FKM rubber strap, available in your choice of blue or black. Just like the titanium bracelet, it features quick-release pins, allowing for expedient switching.

Availability and pricing

Wren is clearly a passion project, built by a watch enthusiast (or should I say, Wrist Enthusiast?) for watch enthusiasts. How else could you explain offering this much watch for under $1,500? I assume Karger is making money off this somehow, but I don’t see how.

The Wren Dive One Titanium Dusk is available now from Wrist Enthusiast’s online shop for $1,395. Along with the titanium flat-link bracelet with a tool-less micro-adjustment clasp, it comes with an FKM rubber strap in your choice of black or blue.
