Klipsch Just Put Audiophiles On Notice with Its Revamped Reference Premiere Loudspeakers

After several years, the American hi-fi giant has released the next generation of its top-of-the-line loudspeakers.

For the past several months, Klipsch has been running a pretty extensive sale on its top-of-the-line Reference Premiere II loudspeaker range. All eleven models in the range, which include numerous floorstanding, bookshelf, center channel, and surround sound speakers, have been discounted by up to 30 percent.

Well, it appears we now know why.

The American audio giant has now officially introduced the Reference Premiere III, the next evolution of the range. It comprises nine passive loudspeakers, each of which features acoustic advancements and a refined design compared to its Reference Premiere II counterparts, which were released in 2022.

According to the brand, the Reference Premiere III loudspeakers have been updated to meet “the needs of today’s consumers and offering premium listening solutions for everything from high-performance two-channel music systems to immersive home theaters.”

There are nine passive loudspeakers in the brand-new Reference Premiere III range. There are three floorstanding: RP-8263FA (Dolby Atmos integrated), RP-8203F, and RP-6203F. There are two bookshelf speakers: RP-6103M and RP-5103M. There are two center channels: RP-5203C and RP-5403C. And there are two surrounds: RP-5203S and RP-5103SA (Dolby Atmos enabled).

Each speaker in the Reference Premiere III range has been updated with a new high-density axial Tractrix horn tweeter. Klipsch claims the driver features “an upgraded BMC material to reduce resonance, flush-mounted to the cabinet to minimize wave breakup and measurably improve off-axis response for a wider sweet spot.”

Klipsch has paired the new tweeter with its signature copper Cerametallic woofers, which were featured throughout its Reference Premiere II range. The three floorstanding loudspeaker models have been outfitted with new metal outrigger feet to better isolate the cabinets and reduce unwanted distortion.

As for their appearance, Klipsch claims it has refined the design of each loudspeaker, with “knife-edge” cabinets, to improve structural rigidity. Like before, all models will be available in either ebony or walnut finishes.

Price and availability

Klipsch’s Reference Premiere III range of loudspeakers isn’t available just yet. The company says that they’ll go on sale in October.

As for price, here’s the breakdown:

For floorstanding speakers, the RP-8263FA (Dolby Atmos integrated), RP-8203F and RP-6203F will go for $1,300/ea, $800/ea and $700/ea, respectively.

For bookshelf speakers, the RP-6103M and RP-5103M will go for $700/pair and $550/pair, respectively.

The two center channels, the RP-5203C and RP-5403C, will go for $750/ea and $450/ea.

The RP-5203S surround sound speakers will go for $850/pair. The RP-5103SA Dolby Atmos modules, which can be added to the floorstanding or bookshelf speakers, go for $650/pair.
