Timex Drops an Affordable Snoopy Field Watch That’s Perfect for Hiking

The Peanuts-dial Expedition Acadia hovers in impulse-buy territory, even for Timex.

August has been an unusually Snoopy-heavy month for Timex.

Over these past couple of weeks, everybody’s favorite beagle has already appeared on new editions of the brand’s MK1, Marlin Jet and the Heuer-inspired Marlin Chronograph, among others.

And now, you can add the Expedition Acadia to its recent drop list.

The Acadia

While the latest Snoopy watches from Timex have cost upwards of $200, this Expedition Acadia is just $119.

Debuting in 2017, the Acadia sits at the lower end of the Expedition lineup. It’s not as simple as the Camper but also not as technical or rugged as the Ridge. In terms of looks, price and capability, it’s pretty similar to the Expedition Scout, but less traditional of a field watch in construction.

Sitting at 40mm across, the case is made of a lightweight resin material, making it a great piece that’s there when you need it, but sits comfortably unnoticed on your wrist when you don’t.

It gives you 50m of water resistance and is powered by a quartz movement. Inside of the Arabic numerals, you have a 24-hour index, with the hands and markers lumed for the nighttime. There’s also a date window at the 3 spot.

Beagle batch

In the case of the new Snoopy editions, there are two versions: cream and green. Both come inside a matte black case but vary slightly in dial setup.

Just like past Acadia models, these feature Snoopy as the troop leader of his Beagle Scouts, which typically feature Woodstock and his pals on camping adventures. Here, the pup sits around a campfire with Woodstock and another bird character.

For the cream variant, the image sits at the middle of the dial. However, the green variant features the same picture at the bottom of the dial, cutting off the 5, 6 and 7 numerals.

Also, its curious that these variants go with color-matching silicone straps instead of fabric ones. Of course, you could always swap these out pretty easily.
