Yeti’s New Release Brings Its Legendary Cooler Tech to the Playing Field

Yeti’s newest release brings its standard-setting insulating power to a new frontier, and once again pushes boundaries of daily hydration.

Yeti already transformed our coolers, campsites, water bottles and EDC — it only makes sense that the brand would come up with a solve for reliable game-day hydration, too.

And that’s exactly what the brand’s latest release does: the Silo Jug borrows the tech and construction of Yeti’s popular Roadie series and transforms it into a lightweight, reliable hydration solution for every game, match, meet and tournament.

Hydration Nation

When you’re giving your all, you don’t need to be distracted worrying if you brought enough water to carry you through that next mile, goal, pitch or touchdown. Insulated water bottles are a dime a dozen these days — so are jugs — but all that stainless steel can get heavy, fast. 

And if you’re not the one on the field, but instead schlepping your kid’s stuff to soccer practice on weekdays and games on weekends, any way to lighten the load (mental and physical) is a godsend.

The new Silo Jug, available in both a 40 ounce and half gallon version, uses Yeti’s PermaFrost insulation to keep water cool, but in a sleeker, easy to carry design. And yeah, that’s the same pressure-injected polyurethane foam insulation found in its Roadie coolers.

While most of Yeti’s offerings are on the heavy side, to put it lightly, the Silo keeps things pleasantly portable. How? Rather than using the thick, rotomolded polyethylene or stainless steel, Yeti swapped in high impact polypropylene plastic for the Silo, which keeps the weight down to a minimal 1.9 pounds for the Silo 40 Ounce and 2.25 pounds for the Half Gallon.

Lost and found

The Silo’s coolest feature doesn’t solve room-temperature water woes — it solves the “lost water bottle” situation that any parent with a child in sports is very familiar with.

The Silo comes equipped with an over-engineered handle with built-in fence hooks, so not only is it easy to carry this lightweight jug onto the field or into the dugout, but thanks to the subtle hooks, it can be hung in plain sight. No more replacing expensive water bottles every season.

How you sip will depend on which size jug you order. The 40 Ounce version comes stock with a MagSlider Straw Cap, while the Silo Half Gallon Jug is offered with either the MagSlider Straw Cap or the MagDock Chug Cap. Both lid styles are compatible with both size jugs, and are 100 percent leakproof.

The Silo is meant for room temperature and cold drinks, and it should be noted that Yeti does not recommend using its new jugs for carbonated drinks or any perishable food items. The Silo is dishwasher safe, so you can feel good tossing it in to wash after a long weekend tournament.
