Vans is one of the most well-known footwear names on the planet, but even the brand that has helped define “cool” for the past half century and counting still has some under-the-radar styles.

To that end, its newest release, a three-way collaborative effort with two streetwear brands, sees one of Vans’s lesser-known models get a rugged refresh, complete with a military-inspired aesthetic overhaul.

Camo may be one of the most enduring prints out there, but these new Vans still manage to feel fresh.

If you’re looking for a shoe that will stand out from the crowd while maintaining style street cred, there may not be a better option out there.

Climbing the ranks

The all-new Vans Seylynn is part of a three-shoe collaboration among luxury streetwear brand OAMC, the Japanese streetwear label WTAPS and, of course, the aforementioned skate shoe behemoth.

The refreshed model is based off a deep-cut Vans silhouette first released in 2011, the Zero Low. Although it didn’t make headlines quite like the brand’s Old Skool or Sk8-Hi, the minimal shoe is a certified underrated style star, designed by OAMC co-founder Luke Meier.

This new take on that nearly-vintage style sees upgrades in materials and hardware, but the most noticeable update is certainly the Duck Camo upper, courtesy of WTAPS. (There’s a second Seylynn that comes in all black, but this one is undoubtedly cooler.)

This isn’t the classic Vans Waffle sole, but there’s still a subtle nod to the brand in the V-shaped tread under the forefoot.

Circling back to those material upgrades I mentioned earlier, the new Seylynn sports a new, burly outsole designed to step through winter conditions without missing a beat.

It should be noted that while this style ditches the classic Vans waffle sole, it does so in order to provide a unique tread pattern with a focus on traction.

Additionally, there’s extra canvas covering the eyelet panel for increased durability, and tonal green laces, color-matched to the rugged outsole, complete the package.

Two additional shoes complete the new collaborative effort between Vans, WTAPS and OAMC: the OAMC x WTAPS Sk8-Hi Gl Lug and the

Availability and pricing

As of now, the OAMC x WTAPS x Vans Seylynn Lug is set to release on November 20th, both online and in store. The shoe is expected to retail for €140, or approximately $163 USD.
