Founded just a decade ago, GiantMouse has built a sterling reputation for precision-crafted knives that not only perform beautifully but look fantastic as well.

That’s especially true in the case of their GM line offerings, which invariably become instant collector’s items due to their stunning quality and limited runs.

If you’ve always wanted one (or two), you’re in luck, as we’ve got the scoop on the next GM drop.

Set a reminder for next Tuesday, when the new GM14 and GMP14 will become available, most likely for a brief period of time.

V for Valletta

Both knives are nicknamed Valletta, a word with many associations, including Jean Parisot de Valette, a French nobleman who defended Malta during the Great Siege of 1565, and for whom that tiny island nation’s capital, Valletta, is named.

Valletta also derives from Italian and French terms for “valley,” but perhaps more meaningful a link to the Latin word valetudo, meaning health, and (capital V) Valetudo, the Roman goddess of the same, as both generally point toward strength and vitality.

Those qualities are certainly on display with the new GM knives, which differ in looks but share a dynamic design.

The business end is a majestic 3.6-inch modified trailing point blade made of Vanax steel, a nitrogen alloy valued for its corrosion resistance, toughness and edge retention.

Blades deploy via ambidextrous thumb studs and are held in place with a sturdy nested liner lock.

Despite the large size — extending to an open length of 8.6 inches — both editions dip under five ounces thanks to light but durable titanium handle scales, outfitted with shapely tip-up pocket clips.

The GM14 distinguishes itself visually via the blade’s satin finish and green micarta inlays on the handle, which add aesthetic interest and probably a bit of extra grip as well.

Meanwhile, its evil twin, the pricier GMP14, reminds us why the “P” stands for pirate.

Considering the quality on display here, “knives done right” is some top-notch sloganeering.

This darker treatment boasts a tumbled black PVD blade and handle, plus real bronze inlays and backspacers that will patina over time, adding one-of-a-kind flair to each individual example.

You know, in case you needed another reason to empty your wallet for one of these rare gems.

Availability and pricing

The GM14 ($395) and GMP14 ($445) will be available for purchase on Tuesday, December 9, at noon EST.

A total of 600 units (400 GM14s, 200 GMP14s) will be produced, and if history is any indication, they will sell out fast.
