Much as the idea of the RV experience stokes many people’s wanderlust, it’s a lifestyle that requires a specific driving skillset.  Whether you’re lacking basic towing experience or confidence in more advanced campground maneuvers, it can come with a steep learning curve.

Sure, it’s easy enough to trailer some motorcycles or even a small camper behind you. However, when you’re hauling a multi-ton object (that’s often less than streamlined), any mishaps have the potential to be pretty grandiose just by virtue of the scale.

Skydream’s caravan promises to make hauling RVs more accessible, even for those without the experience of towing large rigs.

But that could be about to change thanks to a company by the name of Skydream. Through an innovative new caravan design, the outfit is set to lower the barrier to entry RVing in more ways than one.

Making hauling hands-off

Chiefly because it aims to make caravanning a completely hands-off affair. Thanks to AI assistance, Skydream’s intelligent travel trailer promises everything from self-hitching and towing assistance to automatic camp leveling and set-up.

Now, it’s worth noting that integrating an electric motor for added autonomy and improved driving range is nothing new in and of itself. In fact, the Pebble Flow even offers a “Magic Hitch” feature enabling self-alignment and attachment.

Nevertheless, Skydream’s offering portends to take that kind of independence to new heights. Thanks to its Caravan ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), the company says that it will not only mosey on up to your vehicle but also provide ongoing support while you drive.

So, along with AI and sensor-based active stability control, traction assist and hill assist, Skydream touts features like regenerative braking, active steering assist, off-road assist and crosswind assist.

There’s even an automatic parking function that’s capable of piloting the RV into vertical and parallel spots once you’ve arrived at the campsite. From there, a Sentry Mode provides panoramic perimeter monitoring upon setup.

Suffice to say, it makes for a robust suite of electronic aids, as it’s on par with what you’ll find in cars and motorcycles today. In that respect, the Skydream is as much a trailer as it is an ultra-modern EV (absent a steering wheel and pedals, of course).

A tech-filled off-grid oasis

Added smarts isn’t the only way that Skydream’s caravan plans to change the game. The entire 26.5-foot-long rig is to be built on a dual-axle skateboard-style chassis with a lithium battery packing up to 85 kWh of capacity.

When combined with a 1,100- to 2,200-Watt roof-mounted solar system, along with a charging port and built-in regenerative braking, Skydream claims the trailer is capable of providing a whopping two weeks’ worth of off-grid power.

It’s a good thing, too, since you’re not going to want to leave once you’ve made camp, convenient as the set-up process may be. With the touch of a button, Skydream’s caravan extends the front deck, raises an exterior awning, drops the stabilizer legs and turns on the ambient lighting to create an instant tech-filled oasis.

Moreover, the spacious interior is packed full of luxurious creature comforts. From a wraparound glasshouse, an integrated bar setup and a washing machine, to a kitchen stocked with a retractable range hood, a wine rack and a large fridge, it’s a true glamper’s delight.

To that end, considering that Skydream plans for other AI-enabled features, like an onboard smart assistant and a one-touch control system providing light, locking and climate input, this obviously isn’t a caravan for the traditional camping enthusiast.

Rather, it’s meant to provide an answer for those seeking an effortless, hassle-free journey from start to finish. Whether it can truly make towing easier for RV noobs, only time will tell, but you have to commend the ambition all the same.

On the up-and-up

Skydream’s caravan will be making its stateside debut at a launch event in San Jose, California on Monday, March 23. The company plans to launch pre-sales in the first half of 2026 with first U.S. deliveries for December.

At this stage, Skydream has not yet released pricing, though it also has plans to add other models (like an off-road variant) as part of a larger lineup.
