We may just be a few months into 2026, but automakers are already starting to tease updates about what there is to look forward to with the next model year.

Ford is among the latest to do so, as the Blue Oval has announced that it’s making some key changes to its Super Duty lineup for 2027.

Thanks to the widened availability of a few key upgrade packages, the pickups promise expanded off-road capability and added refinement. More importantly, though, is the fact that such changes make the lineup even more ideal for overlanding applications.

Feel the Tremor

The main reason being that the Tremor off-road package will be offered on all Super Duty models. In other words, Ford is making it easier to equip its heavy-duty F-Series trucks for adventure right from the factory.

Accordingly, even XL trim models specced with the STX appearance package can now benefit from the option of 35-inch tires, a factory lift and an electronic locking rear differential, along with skid plates, Trail Control and Rock Crawl Mode.

Moreover, as part of the wider Tremor rollout, Ford is making the package available on Crew Cab models featuring a 176-inch wheelbase and 8-foot bed. In practice, this means that prospective Super Duty buyers will have the choice between two box lengths, with the other being a 6.75-foot option.

But that’s not all. Assuming you don’t want the flash of the Tremor, Ford has created a subtler alternative in the form of the XL Off-Road 35-Inch Tire Package.

Along with the above changes, it also brings transfer case and fuel tank skid plates, 35-inch tires and a full matching spare for XL trim work trucks. Being unbranded, Ford says it’s ideal for businesses and government agencies looking to add their own logo, but it’s just as fitting an option for those who aren’t big on graphics or interior add-ons.

Diamond in the rough

Adding factory off-road options isn’t the only way in which Ford is equipping its 2027 Super Duty trucks to be better candidates for overlanding conversions.

Importantly, the Blue Oval is also making the Platinum trim available on F-350, F-450 and F-550 cab models. Put another way, the brand’s hardest-working pickups will benefit from its most premium equipment options.

Accordingly, along with leather upholstery, a 12-inch infotainment interface running Ford’s Sync4 OS and a 14-speaker B&O sound system, such trucks will also offer the option of massaging seats, LED fog lights and niceties like power running boards.

Of course, such creature comforts are by no means required equipment for a capable overlanding setup.

However, with luxury conversions like those from Supertramp costing well into six-figure territory, it’s reasonable for prospective buyers to want a little more from their rig, and there’s added peace of mind that comes with some things being a factory effort.

Availability and pricing

Ford hasn’t announced pricing or specs for its 2027 Super Duty lineup just yet, though the automaker has stated that full details are to follow this year. Build & Price will open later this year once orders begin.
