We Knife’s Triple-Transforming Blade Morphs from Practical EDC to Military Tactical in Seconds

This isn’t the first blade the brand has built that converts into a different style, but it does have one major user-friendly improvement.

Over the last few years, the concept of “morphing” knives has remained a fairly constant oddity in the EDC and outdoor industries. That really kicked off with the launch of the CRKT Provoke, which was then pared into the CRKT Provoke X, an outdoor tomahawk based on similar technology. There have even been more refined, design-focused takes, like the Craighill Sidewinder.

Now, We Knife is bringing something new to the table with its NexoMorph. But this isn’t just more of the same; it’s an evolution of the concept. And it might just be the wildest, most impressive transforming knife yet.

I promise, these are both, in fact, the same exact knife.

Triple threat

It needs to be pointed out that, for classic pocket knives, the ability to fold in half is already kind of a transformation. And many “morphing” knives offer a variation on a deployment. For instance, the CRKT Provoke, for all its technical intrigue, doesn’t fold so much as it extends.

The NexoMorph, however, is a little different. This knife has three forms: extended into a traditional knife, folded in half like a pocket knife and transformed into a push dagger (or punch knife). It’s this triple-threat transformation that makes it so unique.

This isn’t the first time We Knife has made a morphing knife that goes from traditional format to a push dagger. Previously, the brand offered the We Knife Typhoeus (pictured below). However, that knife only had two modes: fixed blade and push dagger. Adding a third form, a folded-in-half, pocket-friendly form make a huge difference.

That means you can use this knife like a classic pocket knife, putting it into and taking it out of your pocket and deploying it as you normally would with any other EDC blade. However, with the push of a button, you can turn it into its more tactical, self-defense-friendly push dagger format.

And the best part? This transformation happens in just a second or two. Although you really have to see it to believe it (check out the video above).

More than an oddity

Being a technical marvel doesn’t mean a whole lot in the knifemaking space if the blade isn’t up to snuff otherwise. Luckily, the NexoMorph is no slouch when it comes to its material makeup, either.

The blade is a classic drop point, measuring 2.95 inches. It’s also crafted from Böhler M390 super steel — one of the most popular and beloved blade materials of the moment. And it has a time-tested thumb stud manual deployment. Put plainly, you shouldn’t have any complaints as to its EDC usability, durability, reliability and so on.

And the handle is equally impressive. The frame is built from sturdy, lightweight titanium. It also has a ceramic ball-bearing pivot, a button locking mechanism and a black stonewashed finish that matches the blade.

However, there is one noteworthy element missing: a pocket clip. Of course, this is pretty easily explained when you realize that it would be pretty difficult (read: impossible) to make a pocket clip work with the way this knife transforms. But that’s a small price to pay for such a high level of innovation.
