Some knives are so impeccably designed and styled that they can be spun all different ways and continue to connect.

That’s certainly the case with the Böker Plus Atlas, which is such a staple that the brand now offers it in a whopping 20 variants.

The simple addition of thumb studs makes the TS knives the most user-friendly Atlas offerings yet.

Whether it’s tiny, supersized or dressed in its military best, the simple, stylish, affordable folder continues to impress.

Even so, the latest treatments stand out, because while every other option requires two hands to open, the Böker Plus Atlas TS knives cut that number in half.

As the name suggests, the big design upgrade with the TS is the addition of ambidextrous thumb studs.

While in the past, a nail nick in the blade served to help you open the knife with two hands, the studs enable you to deploy it with a simple flick of the thumb.

The sheepfoot blade shape is better for carving tasks than, say, slicing food, but it can still cut open a box with ease.

This instantly makes the knife much more functional and user-friendly, at times in a game-changing way.

Just think about when you are grasping a ladder or flashlight and really only have one hand free to both open and operate your knife.

You have your pick of blades, as the TS option is available with a 2.87-inch Clippoint or Droppoint or a 2.72-inch Sheepsfoot.

No matter the shape, the blade material is the Atlas standard: budget-friendly but nonetheless robust D2 steel, valued for its durability, edge retention and everyday reliability.

Because there’s no need for a nail nick, these blades get an extra decorative flourish in the form of a false edge.

The blades still require two hands to close, as the traditional backlock mechanism is retained, as are other trademark features.

These include a stainless steel handle with a black stonewash finish, a tip-up right-hand pocket clip and a lanyard hole.

Even with the introduction of a critical deployment feature, the Atlas’s simplicity remains a feature, not a bug, as it helps keep the weight to an ultralight 1.98 ounces.

That and the fact that the price will hardly lighten your wallet make this trio about as tempting as EDC knives get.
