Yeti’s New Camp Chair Addresses the Biggest Complaints with the Brand’s Longtime Staple

The all-new Trailhead Field Chair comes with a double-digit reduction in both weight and price.

Out in the woods, the Trailhead Camp Chair is hard to beat.

It’s comfortable. It’s weather-resistant. And, beyond a shadow of a doubt, it’s sturdy, boasting a 500-pound weight limit.

You just have to get it there …

Clocking in at more than 13 pounds, Yeti’s stalwart camp chair isn’t exactly easy to transport, even with its packable frame and a two-strap carry bag that wears like a backpack.

It’s also not cheap. At $300, it costs nearly as much as Yeti’s top-of-the-line, notoriously expensive hard coolers.

The all-new Trailhead Field Chair addresses both of those complaints.

Make weight

With a smaller overall footprint, it cuts weight by shrinking the aluminum frame several inches compared to the Trailhead Camp Chair.

The design also does away with the armrests, resulting in a roughly 30 percent reduction in weight (9.3 vs 13.3 pounds).

As for the face material, the Twilite Fabric isn’t quite as robust as the FlexGrid material found on the both the original Trailhead and Yeti’s Hondo Beach Chair, released last year.

However, with a 350-pound weight limit, the form-fitting Trailhead Field Chair is more than capable for long bouts creekside or on the sidelines of the soccer field.

Availability and pricing

Though it is by no means a budget option, the Trailhead Field Chair does see a 25 percent price cut compared to the Trailhead Camp Chair.

Available now in black and tan, it costs $225. Both colors come with a matching carry bag.

The chair does not come with a cup holder, but it’s compatible with Yeti’s existing $20 add-on.
