Dan D’Agostino Master Audio Systems is an Arizona-based hi-fi company specializing in really high-end amplifiers and preamplifiers. The brand’s entry-level offerings cost around $15,000, while its flagship models can go for six figures and more than most homes.

To celebrate the brand’s 15th anniversary, it’s introducing a new high-end amplifier to its Momentum range — named the Momentum Z — that, according to the brand, “takes performance to an entirely new level of refinement and control.”

In pursuit of musical perfection

The Momentum Z is a monoblock (or single-channel) amplifier designed to power an extremely high-end passive loudspeaker. This means that, to drive a stereo pair, two of these amplifiers are required.

Dan D’Agostino claims that the Momentum Z shares the same design philosophy as the brand’s other Momentum series amplifiers, meaning it shares a similar “advanced circuit design, precision-machined enclosures and extraordinary power delivery.”

The amplifier features distinctive use of solid copper heat sinks, a choice “driven equally by engineering performance and visual impact.”

Its secret sauce is that it features a unique power supply technology — called the Kinetic Drive Regulator — that, according to the brand, allows it to be “immune to AC mains irregularities and the speaker interaction issues that commonly degrade the performance of conventional amplifier designs.”

Basically, this means it’s an extremely powerful amplifier that packs enough preventative tech so that you know it’s not going to blow out your speaker. Its dual 1,200 VA linear toroidal transformer array allows it to deliver 500 watts (into 8 ohms), 1,000 watts (into 4 ohms), or 2,000 watts (into 2 ohms).

Precision and warmth

But that’s just scratching the surface, as the brand has integrated the Momentum Z with numerous advanced technologies (which you’d expect at its price).

For example, it’s the first D’Agostino amplifier to use a Junction Field-Effect Transistor (JFET) based input stage, which offers ultra-high input impedance and exceptionally low noise to help preserve the audio signal so it sounds as natural as possible.

According to the brand, this helps the amplifier achieve “a rare balance of technical precision and musical warmth, allowing recordings to be experienced with both accuracy and emotional impact.”

Additionally, on the back of the amplifier is an RJ45 Ethernet port, which allows it to connect to the internet so that, using proprietary software, you can keep track of its performance.

Price and availability

The D’Agostino Momentum Z will be available starting “spring 2026.” A single amplifier costs $62,500, meaning a pair — which is needed to drive two loudspeakers — will set you back $125,000.

Yeah, only extreme audiophiles will consider this. But, nevertheless, it’s cool for the rest of us to know that it even exists.
