Esoteric is a high-end Japanese audio manufacturer that’s been around since the mid-1980s and specializes in elite hi-fi components — amplifiers, DACs, streamers, CD transports and turntables — typically reserved for deep-pocketed audiophiles. Its flagship “Grandioso” range of components, for example, typically costs between $20,000 and $80,000 each.
The company’s “05” range of hi-fi components is its most affordable — the brand considers it an entry point into luxury hi-fi — but it’s still very expensive. And now the company has released new and improved models of two of its “best-selling” components in that range.
Meet Esoteric’s N-05XE streaming preamplifier and S-05XE power amplifier.

Both of these new components are part of the brand’s next evolution of its 05 range — which it’s calling “XE” — and essentially new-and-improved versions of its N-05XD streaming preamplifier and S-05 power amplifier.
And naturally, the N-05XE streaming preamplifier and S-05XE power amplifier are optimized to work together and be the hub of a truly elite modern hi-fi system.
