Today, more than three million Americans live in their RV full-time, and our standards are higher than ever when it comes to remote living and camping: the ideal RV needs to be elegantly designed, include modern advancements such as WiFi and solar power and demonstrate increased fuel efficiency.

While many RVs on the road feature lavish interiors and well-appointed exteriors, the fuel efficiency piece of the puzzle is often missing. That may be set to change with Entegra’s release of the Embark, the world’s first range-extended electric Class A motorhome.

Interior of a modern camper van featuring a narrow aisle with light wood flooring. On the left side, there is a black leather bench with a white textured pillow and a beige jacket hanging on the wall. On the right side, a white dining table is set with beige plates, silverware, and clear glasses, flanked by black cushioned seating. Above the table, there are wooden cabinets and black shelves holding jars, a clock, and a small plant. Large windows on both sides show a scenic view of green hills and mountains at sunset. The ceiling has recessed lighting and a skylight.
The Embark will let in tons of natural light, thanks to a skylight and plenty of windows.

Watt a concept

Enetgra, a subsidiary of the THOR Industries RV empire, has spent the past five years developing electrification tech fit for the demands of an RV. The result is the Embark, a first-of-its-kind prototype Class A motorhome that delivers up to 450 miles of range.

Interior view of a modern vehicle cockpit featuring a black leather driver's seat, a steering wheel with control buttons, digital instrument panels, and a touchscreen display showing the "EMBARK" logo. The large window reveals a scenic mountain landscape with greenery and a partly cloudy sky at sunset.
The cockpit is designed to provide maximum visibility and comfort on the road.

It’s important to note that the concept RV is not fully electric: its enhanced range is thanks to the low emission gasoline range extender, which recharges the ample electric battery system.

A cozy bed with dark gray bedding and three white pillows against a black padded headboard. A wooden tray with a black teapot, two black mugs, and a small glass vase with white flowers sits on a cream knitted blanket draped over the bed. The room has gray walls, two large windows on either side showing a scenic view, wooden overhead cabinets, and recessed ceiling lights. A black ceiling vent is centered above the bed.
The 97-inch x 76-inch elevated bed hinges at the foot for underneath storage.

However, an impressive note is that the Embark is capable of 105 miles of range on electric battery alone, which is ideal for day trips.

Now, that’s a chassis!

The cutting-edge, range-extended electric chassis, manufactured by Harbinger Motors (which counts THOR Industries as an investor) delivers an 800V electrical infrastructure (powered by a center-mounted 140-kWh battery pack) for unparalleled performance.

Power on

The battery packs are mounted low, which improves the overall handling of the motorhome.

Entegra says the EV drivetrain “delivers instant torque, reduced sway and a quieter ride” — which, if you’ve ever driven an RV, is a definite upgrade from traditional models.

Modern compact bathroom with a rectangular beige sink and matte black faucet fixtures. A backlit square mirror is mounted above the sink, with a dark green towel hanging on the left wall. To the right, a frosted glass partition separates the bathroom from a bedroom area featuring a bed with gray bedding and light-colored pillows. The space has a sleek, minimalist design with neutral tones and clean lines.
The bathroom is spacious and will include a 28-inch x 32-inch shower.

The system also allows for rapid charging at DC Fast Charger locations, which means less time stationary, and more time hitting the open road.

The batteries can also be charged at traditional camping sites or at home, offering greater flexibility to adventurers.

Compact modern bathroom corner with a white toilet, gray walls, and a dark wooden shelf above the toilet holding a small potted plant and a container. Above the shelf is a white cabinet with one door open, revealing shelves with jars and toiletries. A black wall-mounted towel rack holds a dark green towel.
Modern, sleek finishes elevate the Embark’s interior.

Speaking of home — the Embark is so powerful, it can be used as a mobile energy backup system to power your house in case of emergency. Pretty nifty.
