Properly storing expensive gear at camp, and on the road, has historically been sort of a crapshoot.

The options have either been to A) stuff your trailer full of gear, which severely impacts your campsite feng shui and leads to tripping over goods, losing small items and general discontent or B) attempting to lock down gear outside your rig, hoping it doesn’t get rained on, stolen or forgotten in the shuffle of packing up.

The Stockman Trekka may just be the solution to campsite storage woes, thanks to a clever feature that’s hiding in plain sight.

Compartmentalizing never looked so good

Whether you’re bringing surfboards, e-bikes or want to fit an extra fridge on board for longer excursions, the Stockman Trekka can handle hauling your bigger gear, and keep it out of the way.

That’s thanks to its novel, roomy fiberglass nose cone, which has been developed as a dedicated interior storage space to keep gear secure.

If it’s e-bikes you’re hoping to bring along on your next adventure, the Trekka has you covered: the fiberglass storage space features an optional integrated ramp system, which makes loading and unloading bikes a breeze.

The compartment also offers internal 12- and 240-V outlets, which can charge your e-bikes while they’re stowed away.

If you’d rather bring a fridge to extend your food supply for longer trips, the Trekka’s novel storage compartment can handle that as well. Rather than the bike ramp, opt for a fridge slide, sized for fridge boxes up to 90-liters.

Inflatable kayaks or a set of surfboards can also fit into the Trekka’s garage for those into watersports.

Amenities galore

The Trekka combines the security and elegance of a teardrop trailer with utilitarian storage, but its interior and rugged capability shine as well.

The 21-foot trailer rides on dual axles supported by a capable Cruisemaster independent suspension system. The electric pop-up roof adds more height inside.

Fit for two, the interior feels spacious considering how small it is; Stockman was able to fit a sofa, swivel table and queen-sized bed within the Trekka, as well as interior and exterior kitchens.

There’s even a tiny wet bathroom tucked into the front corner, complete with a shower and flushable cassette toilet. The sink serves both the bathroom and adjoining interior kitchen, which is supported by 200-liter fresh water and 120-liter waste water tanks.

Customers can add an induction cooktop to the interior kitchen, but it does not come stock. However, the exterior kitchen, located behind a flip-up hatch on the side of the Trekka, does come complete with an induction cooktop and its own sink.

The Trekka is powered by a Renogy electrical system with 300-900 Ah of lithium battery power and 400-800 watts of solar charging.

Availability and pricing

Stockman introduced the Trekka in a few models: the On Road base model starts around $66,200, the Ultra XT off-grid model starts at $76,125, and the top of the line Platinum XT flagship model starts around $86,050. All models are available now on the brand’s official website.

If you live in the U.S. and you’re drooling over the Trekka, I have bad news. Right now, Stockman’s capable teardrop is only available in Australia, where the company is based. If you have to have one, it’s recommended to reach out to the company directly to inquire about international shipping.

And keep in mind that although the Trekka is marketed as an efficient way to haul e-bikes, the equipment doesn’t come stock: the slide-out bike carrier is only available as a $3,500 upgrade option for all trim levels.
