Watch snobs will often poo-poo department store watches as somehow being unworthy of wrist time, and admittedly, the bulk of watches sold by department stores are crappy, overpriced “fashion watches” that are made cheaply and license designer names to sound fancy.

But not all department store watches are created equal.

Take Macy’s, for example. Sure, the store stocks a ton of fashion watches that aren’t worth your time. But they’re also an authorized dealer for legit enthusiast brands like Seiko, Citizen and Bulova.

As such, Macy’s is actually one of the best places to buy a watch from these brands, especially right now, as the store is having a huge sale on watches with discounts ranging from 20 to more than 40 percent off.
