Just as before on Slopes, snow enthusiasts can review their vertical feet skied, total mileage, and even look at their lines on a 3D map (if you upgrade to premium), but with the integration from Strava, users can compete against each other.
To get started, open up the Slopes app (it’s a separate app from Strava), hit record and head for the powder. The app will automatically pause while you’re on a lift and start again as soon as you strap in. The interface is simple, easy-to-use and won’t drain your entire battery as many tracking apps do. Even if you don’t have service in the backcountry, your phone uses stats from Apple Health and your GPS location in an energy-efficient way, so you’re not left with a dead phone after a long day. If you have an Apple watch, you can leave your phone in your pocket (no more cold hands to check your phone on the lift). When you sit down to apres with your friends, open up Strava and your day-of data will automatically upload — boasting pairs quite nicely with an IPA.
