There’s truly an app for everything these days, especially when it comes to tracking fitness. So it makes sense that an extensive surfing app to record sessions and log fitness data has arrived. It’s called Surfline Sessions, and it leverages Surfline’s extensive network of surf cameras and forecasting data to deliver the most thorough and personalized surfing app yet.
Launching today, Surfline Sessions is an extension of the Surfline app that allows surfers to compile video footage and relevant data from each session. To start, you need a Surfline Premium Membership ($95/year), an Apple Watch and an iPhone with iOS 11 or newer. Then, you just use the app on your watch to start a session and hit the surf in front of one of Surfline’s nearly 600 cameras. Later, when you’re finished, you’ll have video footage of all your waves, along with data like how many waves you caught, calories burned, distance paddled and even swell details. You can then edit and share video of your most memorable rides right from your phone.
We are currently testing Surfline Sessions out, so stay tuned for a full review. But in the meantime, it seems perfect for those who want video footage but don’t have a filmer, as well as those looking to take their surfing fitness more seriously.
