One of Civivi’s Best Affordable Knives Just Got Arguably Even Better

If some is good, more is better, right? That adage feels especially true when the price increase is so minimal.

A couple of years ago, knife/EDC influencer Zac Whitmore achieved the seemingly impossible: win a major Blade Show award with his first-ever knife design.

The knife is the Civivi Yonder and the specific honor was the Blade Show 2024’s Best Buy of the Year, which it very much earned with great looks, super-smooth functionality and a $67 price tag.

Fast forward to 2026, and the follow-up promises to take things up a notch for just a few bucks more.

Meet the oh-so-appropriately named Over Yonder

We’re gonna need a bigger blade

While not every sequel matches the original, and very few supersede it, there are reasons to be optimistic about this upcoming release.

By all indications, Civivi did not overthink things. Instead, they essentially replicated the original in a slightly larger form.

Behold: the original Yonder in all its Blade Show award-winning glory.

To get into the nitty-gritty, the original Yonder has a 2.88-inch blade, an open length of 6.62 inches and a weight of 2.73 ounces.

The Over Yonder, meanwhile, busts out a 3.35-inch blade and 7.53-inch open length, with only a minimal weight gain to 2.79 ounces.

While the shape and material are the same, the Over Yonder’s blade is nearly half an inch longer.

Even as it grows, the new knife retains so much of what makes the original so compelling, including a spey-point blade made of reliable, wallet-friendly 14C28N steel and textured handle scales made of canvas micarta (or G10).

Like its predecessor, the new knife also deploys smoothly thanks to ambidextrous thumb studs and a caged ceramic ball bearing.

For swift one-handed retraction, the Over Yonder also brings back the crossbar lock, which also serves as a secondary deployment option.

One final key feature is the reversible tip-up stainless steel clip, which makes the knife easy to tote in either front pocket.

Considering the base price of the new knife is just $7 more than the original, it’s worth weighing the potential downsides, of which there are a couple.

First off, some regions get a little restrictive, legally speaking, once the blade length goes over three inches, so it pays to double-check the laws where you live to make sure you are in the clear.

Beyond the blacked-out treatment, the Over Yonder will also be initially available with a dark green canvas micarta handle, a stonewashed blade and a black G10 handle or a satin-finished blade and an “aluminum foil” G10 handle.

Second, the Yonder is available in a greater variety. There are currently 13 variants of the award winner, including options with Guibourtia wood handles and Damascus steel blades.

Assuming the Over Yonder catches on, however, it will likely get some cool new treatments as well.

Availability and pricing
