While there is a surplus of EDC-centric bags available in today’s global market, there are a few brands that stand out in a sea of utilitarian design, thanks to their uncompromising composition and high standards of manufacturing and materials.

Porter is one such standout: Japan’s top bag brand is lauded for its attention to detail, timeless designs and robust construction. Now, three of its coolest bags just got even better, thanks to a military-inspired makeover via Japanese fashion brand Hyke.

Cool carry

The new collaborative bag collection from Porter and Hyke combines Porter’s silhouettes with design language pulled from Hyke’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection.

The result is that the three bags, the Helmet Bag, the Tool Bag and the Bonsac Mini & Coin Case, will be available in three military-inspired, seasonal colorways: olive drab, coyote brown and black.

The Helmet Bag, Tool Bag and Bonsac Mini & Coin Case can all be worn as cross-body styles; the Helmet Bag is the largest of the three, and features a padded shoulder strap as well as two internal water bottle pockets and a zippered pocket.

The Tool Bag can be carried as a handbag or across the body, and includes a drawstring closure and a size zipper that provides access to the main compartment.

Finally, the Bonsac Mini & Coin Case is a set which includes a compact bonsac and coin case, which can be worn separately.

For those not in the know, a bonsac is a traditional military bag, usually designed with a drawstring and Japanese canvas or nylon.

The coin case can be worn as a neck pouch, or hung on a belt loop or another bag.

All of the collaborative bags come with an exclusive “Porter x Hyke” drawstring pouch, as well as a keychain sporting both brands’ logos.
