What started as a 1970’s indoor soccer classic has evolved into one of the most popular and sought-after lifestyle shoes in modern culture — but for many years, the Adidas Samba has stayed essentially the same.

That changes with the Adidas Samba Bape, but it’s not just the star-shaped “Sta” logo on the sidewall of the silhouette that shakes things up. Look closely, and there’s another major change hiding in plain sight.

Seeing stars

Adidas and Bape first debuted the collaborative Samba Bape Shoe in the fall of 2025, but this week sneakerheads have been blessed with a new colorway that really shows off the lifestyle shoe’s updates.

Those updates include one very obvious change, and a selection of slightly less noticeable updates that still pack a big punch.

The big change comes in the form of the star-shaped logo that replaces the iconic Three Stripes on the lateral side of the right shoe, with the medial section maintaining the iconic 3 stripes; the pattern is reversed on the left shoe.

The other major update, which is less noticeable than the star logo but just as impactful, is the revised toe cap.

Typically, the Samba features a suede T-toe, but this version sees it replaced with a molded rubber Bape Skull Sta face.

Finally, a subtle camouflage insole and “A Bathing Ape” gold foil appears next to the star logo, completing the collaborative effort.

The new version delivers a more organic take on the sneaker, with the “Off White/Shadow Green/Gum” colorway breathing fresh life into the silhouette’s modern updates … while helping it stand out in a sea of Sambas.
