For years, even decades, the Moon Shoe was the stuff of legend.

Still today, it’s unclear whether or not Nike ever sold it to the public. If it did, Nike admits, only a few pairs ever made it out of the brand’s small retail space in Eugene, Oregon.

Hence why one of only 12 pairs created for the 1972 Olympic trials sold for $437,500 at auction back in 2019.

One of the rarest shoes in Nike history, the Moon Shoe was among the first to feature Bill Bowerman’s infamous Waffle outsole.

Needless to say, Nike reviving the Moon Shoe last year as part of an ongoing partnership with French fashion house Jacquemus turned more than a few heads. Thankfully, the decision didn’t appear to be a one-off.

As with last year’s batch, the modern Moon Shoe stays true to the form factor of the 1972 original. However, it reinterprets some of the details for today’s slim-sneaker trend.

These include a new nylon upper, as well as a cinched ankle with leather heel pull for wearability. It also features a Nike Grind outsole manufactured with recycles rubber, albeit one fashioned into a Waffle pattern for authenticity.
