App of the Week: It’s Time to Download ‘Mario Kart’ on Your iPhone

If you’re a looking for a new mobile game to play, Mario Kart Tour, Nintendo’s latest creation, is finally available to download on all iOS and Android devices. The game is more-or-less a mobile version of the Nintendo Switch game that was released in 2018, but you can play it on your iPhone or iPad. Oh, and it’s free, though it doesn’t pack quite as much content as the version for the Switch.

A unique twist is that Mario Kart Tour will allow you to race on new courses that are “inspired by real-world cities.” The first such course available is inspired by New York City, and Nintendo says that it’ll rotate these destination courses every two weeks.

There is a little bit of catch, of course. Mario Kart Tour is a free-to-play mobile app, but you’ll have to make in-app purchases in order to buy some key upgrades and other new features. Also, you’ll to have a Nintendo Account to play Mario Kart Tour. If you don’t have one, you’ll just have to make one.
