Another week down, and, per usual, a bunch of new tech and gadgets have been announced.

This past week, Samsung revealed its first tri-fold smartphone, Astell&Kern introduced a gorgeous USB DAC, and Fiio unveiled a new portable CD player. But that’s just scratching the surface.

Below, we’ve rounded up all the most interesting new releases and announcements you might have missed from the past week.

Fiio DM15 R2R

Fiio’s DM15 R2R is a modern-day portable CD player. It works quite similarly to its predecessor, the DM13, as it has two headphone jacks (3.5mm and balanced 4.4mm) and built-in Bluetooth (with support for high-resolution codecs including aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, and aptX Low Latency), so you can use it with either wired or wireless headphones. But Fiio gave the DM15 R2 an improved DAC and far more premium design — including a transparent lid so you can see CDs spin as they play.

Musical Fidelity Nu-Vista Vinyl S

Musical Fidelity’s Nu-Vista Vinyl S is a high-end phono preamplifier reserved for an elite vinyl system — it’s essentially a smaller and more affordable version of the British hi-fi maker’s Nu-Vista Vinyl 2, which costs $11,000. It has the same fully discrete, fully balanced design and uses the same state-of-the-art Nuvistor tube technology, but its chassis and footprint are more compact, better matching the brand’s Nu-Vista 600.2 and Nu-Vista 800.2 integrated amplifiers.

Astell&Kern AK HC5

The Astell&Kern AK HC5 is a USB DAC/amp that’s designed to boost the audio quality of your wired headphones when plugged into a laptop, smartphone or handheld console. It has a premium build with a 1.62-inch OLED display and a 150-step volume wheel for precise volume adjustments. Additionally, it features the same AK4499EX DAC found in the brand’s top-tier portable hi-fi players, and pairs it with an AK4191EQ digital processor. Astell&Kern claims it can deliver flagship-grade audio quality in an ultra-portable form factor.

Antigravity A1

The Antigravity A1 is the first-ever drone from Insta360 and it’s unique for several reasons. First, it features two ultra-wide cameras, one located on its roof and one on its underside, allowing it to capture an immersive 360-degree video. Two, it’s also the first drone capable of recording 8K video. And three, it comes with the necessary goggles and a handheld controller for flying at no extra cost. Originally announced this summer, the Antigravity A1 finally has a price and a release date — it costs $1,599 (for the standard bundle) and is available now.

Astell&Kern Stella IEMs

The Stella is Astell&Kern’s flagship pair of in-ear monitors (IEMs). Designed for true audiophiles (with fairly steep pockets), the earbuds are built around an incredible 12-driver quadbrid system that unites four different transducer types: dynamic, balanced armature, planar magnetic and electrostatic. According to the brand, “each component was developed for its distinct role and tuned through precise control of phase, pressure, and motion to achieve tonal accuracy, spatial coherence, and full-spectrum balance.” And since they’re luxury earbuds, they’re naturally made out of premium materials: 6061-T6 aluminum, stainless-steel and 9H sapphire crystal.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold

Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold is the company’s first three-panel smartphone — that’s right, before Apple could introduce a foldable, Samsung is coming out with a tri-fold. When folded, the TriFold has a single 6.5-inch screen and promises to work (and feel) like a Galaxy S25. But when opened up, the three screens combine to make one giant 10-inch display, or you can have each of the three screens running separate, portrait-sized apps. As for cameras, it has a flagship-worthy triple-camera system similar to the brand’s Galaxy S25 Ultra. It costs $2,900 and goes on sale in the US on January 30th.

Piega Premium 801

The Piega Premium 801 are the newest additions to the Swiss audio maker’s Premium Gen2 range of loudspeakers. The floorstanding loudspeakers have a three-way design with six drivers, including four woofers, a midrange driver and a newly developed SSD (Super Symmetric Drive) ribbon tweeter. Like others in the range, each Premium 801 features a premium build of highly rigid extruded aluminium, making it more similar to the brand’s even higher-end Coax range of loudspeakers.

Ikea Kulglass

The Kulglass is a powered Bluetooth speaker that doubles as a tabletop lamp — it looks and works pretty similarly to Ikea’s discontinued Symfonisk Table Lamp Speaker, but lacks the Sonos integration. It was designed with renowned colorist Tekla Evelina Severin, who says she wanted the Kulglass to look like soft-serve ice cream. It comes in two color options: one in various shades of green (pictured), and one a combination of red, brown and pink.
Black rectangular Arylic LP100 audio streaming device with volume knob and playback control buttons.Arylic

Arylic LP100

Arylic’s LP100 is a high-resolution music streamer that adds wireless streaming capabilities — both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth — to traditional hi-fi systems. Unlike a lot of options, the LP100 supports AirPlay 2, making it more appealing to those with Apple devices. It has a built-in phono preamplifier that supports MM and MC cartridges, allowing it to pair with a wide range of turntables. And it has an HDMI eARC input, so you can connect it to your TV and integrate it into your home theater.
